LIAN QINGYUN
Jade carving master Lian Qingyun is highly skilled at adapting his designs to the patterns and colour within the rough stones. Through the use of tenon and mortise mounting technique, he has a breakthrough in integrating various colour of jadeite in a carving. Covering a rich spectrum of subject matters, his works are exquisitely designed that are unique and highly artistic.
This autumn, Tiancheng International is pleased to present two remarkable carvings by Lian Qingyun. Carved as a chick standing on a garlic, the finely Tri-coloured Jadeite “Wisdom” Ornament (Lot 165) is a homophonic metaphor of wisdom and insight. In the Lavender Jadeite “Prosperity” Ornament (Lot 164), Lian cleverly adapts the colour patch of the jadeite to depict vines on the pumpkin, which auspiciously symbolises the abundance of offspring and good fortune. These refined ornaments are enthralling collectibles that demonstrate superb craftsmanship.
