Turkish Treasure – Zultanite
Named in honour of Ottoman sultans, zultanite is an extremely rare gemstone which is mined only in Anatolian Mountains in Turkey. Its rarity is not only dictated by its natural scarcity, but also due to the difficultly in correctly orientating each crystal to accentuate its inherent colour change. With up to 98% of the crystal lost during cutting, its unbelievably low yield (2%) really reinforces the exclusivity of this truly beautiful gemstone especially in sizes over 5 carats.
The colour change of zultanite is not limited to two basic colours. Often referred to as the chameleon gemstone, the same zultanite can exhibit khaki greens, sage greens, cognac pinks, pinkish champagnes, canary yellows, rich champagnes and gingers in different light sources.
The presented 105.10-carat zultanite is believed to be the largest faceted zultanite in the world. It is clear and flawless, free of enhancements or treatments like all other zultanites, making it a true treasure.
