FURTHER DESCRIPTION
All of Wang Guanjun’s subjects are his schoolmates and friends. He uses traditional Gongbi techniques and solid skills in sketching to depict the state of mind and vitality of youth in the metropolis. Wang Guanjun pays special attention to his drawing techniques and use of materials; the clothing materials that appear in his works, such as denim and khaki, are always meticulously depicted. A closer look would reveal the aspirations of a young person, hopes for the future, vividly expressed. Wang Guanjun embraces traditional Chinese Gongbi techniques, and yet he combines it with his personal touch, to render subtle images suggesting purity, but never lacking in artistic character and always full of visual tension, representing a new scene for contemporary Gongbi art.
